Nadine Coyle’s hopes of competing with Girls Aloud bandmate Cheryl Cole with a successful solo career have been shattered, after failing to make it into the top 40.

Coyle’s debut solo album Insatiable only made it onto the charts at number 47, while Cheryl Cole’s Messy Little Raindrops fell to number three after being pushed out of the top spot by Susan Boyle. SuBo’s album The Gift shot to number one, followed by Bon Jovi’s Greatest Hits album.

Meanwhile, Nadine’s debut single, also titled Insatiable, was in the charts at number 50 on Sunday, where as Cheryl’s new single Promise This kept in the top 10 at number seven. But Rihanna’s new single Only Girl (In The World) took the number one spot, beating Take That’s new track The Flood.

Irish beauty Nadine, 25, has only sold around 5,000 copies of her album so far, which is sure to knock her confidence as a solo artist.

The singer signed a deal with Tesco, which means no other retail outlet can sell her music, apart from iTunes, which may have hindered her success.
